Drumchapel Community Credit Union was established in Febuary 1970 and was possibly one of the 1st, if not the 1st, Credit Union in Scotland. The Credit Union is what is recognised as a financial cooperative. It has an founded common bond from which its membership is drawn. Drumchapel Community Credit Unions common bond is defined as the G15 postcode area and, therefore open to anyone living in that locality. These members save together, and, from the pool of money collected, re-lend that money back to the membership at a low rate of interest
